Has anyone been able to reverse minor kidney damage?

Has anyone who got there blood sugars back to normal we’re able to also reverse any kidney damage from diabetes? (If you had kidney damage)
I spoke to my doctor today and looks like my kidneys have slight damage although my function is normal.
