Has anyone tried a raw food diet?

Thanks Defren for posting the links - I had a read through your diary and its very encouraging - well done for being so determined! At the moment I've just cut out carbs and am eating more salad etc ... I haven't really read up on Atkins properly so I will try and read more about that too to try and think what would be the best approach. Now that I've started measuring my bg I get a bit panicky to see them high and want to do something quickly. I wish I had tested from the beginning and been more informed.

I couldn't help laughing when I read your post!

I agree that a smoothie like that could play havoc with sugar levels and admit that I used to really like those too. The ones I was thinking of trying are things like raw spinach perhaps with an apple or other things like cucumber and water in a high-tec blender - but I admit that I haven't tasted one or made one yet - I just got really enthusiastic after coming across a raw food forum and hearing encouraging reports of weight loss and healthiness and that made me wonder if anyone had tried going raw here.

My husband (MH) says I'm still a liability in a restaurant....if anyone's dinner needs sending back it will be mine.

Cucumber smoothies sound like a really refreshing drink for a hot Summer's day......maybe with a splash of Pimms!

Most of the veg I eat is raw, either salad or stir-fry mix.

One of my friend taking raw food for years. And he encourage me about raw food and finally I decided to take the raw food diet. And now after one week results are in-front of me. I'm really enjoying my raw food diet and also it's my pleasure to suggest you guys if you want to.

I suppose there is always something appealing and almost purifying about living how the ancestors lived and
so it would be intereting to see if there were any health benefits from raw berries and the like

I eat a lot of raw food, especially in the summer. I am a vegetarian. My diet also tends to be quite mediteranean and very colourful.

In the summer I make big bowls of Greek style salad with feta cheese and olive oil and lemon/lime in the summer. Also lots of dark green leaves in salads.

I find that cooking vegetables may mean that they increase my blood sugar readings more - this is especially true of carrots - I can tolerate them raw, but cook them...

Raw/minimal processing of very fresh veg preserves more of the vitamin content.
