the last time I was on here, I read a rather sad post by a long term member giving his reasons for leaving
I come back a few days later and the same thread is now talking about sexual abuse and whether late disclosures are credible or not - how the heck that happened bemuses me
I'm coming at this having spent my working life in childrens social care and mental health services and while not a survivor myself, I am 100% certain all the survivors I worked with would be very hurt and, if they felt strong enough, angry / offended by the implication
Sexual abuse is not a matter of the odd wolf whistle of bum grab - it is an abuse of power, usually accompanied by grooming followed by threats and often violence which can be extreme - lets not be coy - think about the singer recently convicted for multiple rapes of chidren and babies. Being aboe to tell anyone what has happened takes a great deal of courage, time and support

It is a follow up to a post in a thread on diabetes discussions that has gone very inappropriately off topic so inthink it should absolutely stay in the same area of the forum

If I find that there's a thread that is drifting I simply stop to follow it. If there's a problematic user, I'll put in the ignore list.
This is a diabetes forum and i very much doubt thay anyone would think the validity of sexual abuse disclosures has anything to do with diabetes, unless of course becoming an abuser or a victim is some kind of as yet undiscovered complication of the disease! In YOUR view it has gone very inappropriately off topic.
I do

I'll use this only on blatant problems, that luckily I've nevere encountered here. It's true that there there are some members that I put in ignore list, because I found them rude, but because it's a really subjective matter I think it's better to use the ignore. But do you hit the report button as well?
I used the report function the other day because there was a new member who needed help and I don't know how to tag mods so I reported and asked for their help for this person.
If I use the ignore button does it also remove that persons comments when others quote them?
