I'd just like to say a big thanks to everyone as if it wasn't for this site I would never have made the diet changes I made. SO THANKS!!! Is anyone else in my boat??? DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Well done! good to see you are succeeding..5% club next fingers crossed  and I too have done well through the advice of people on here who are sadly no longer with us but that's the way the cookie crumbles

Best wishes

Paul

heyyy well done give yourself a little credit here hehe

Good result

Agreeing with Paul
My HbA1c was over 15 in 2009 when DX it went down to 7 and although I am skinny and had no weight to lose am just on Metformin and restricted carbs

ok so I'm confused now because my bloods last March were 6.5% and now are 5.6 %. Doctor says still too high but you're saying delighted with your 6%. Should I be pleased as well ?? Interestingly my vision has improved slightly, now that does excite me.
Best wishes to all,
Dave

I'm confused too Dave.
The OP has a profile stating Type1 diet only and started off with an HBA1c of 5.5. one year ago?

Yeah, just spotted that..doesn't make much sense although the OP's profile info could have been filled in in a rush perhaps?

Plenty of time to correct since June 2011. My HbA1C would be the first thing I changed if I was 'over the moon'. But, you know I'm a cynic and I'm sure there's 'a perfectly logical explanation' as Spok would say. Still, knowing very little about T1, I have now learned that it can be controlled by diet alone. I hadn't appreciated that.

If only it could! Insulin requirements can be kept lower but not eradicated unless the OP knows something I don't

Right! I hope it's not Ray Alan up to his old tricks again with Lord Charles.
