Over the last 2 weeks I have majorly turned my diet around. on 4 metformin and 3 glipazide a day BM was 28 in a week with diet cutting all bad carbs I got it down to 9.8 after breakfast and glipazide. Today has been awful and weird. I had breakfast this morning 2 weetabix with banana boiled egg and slice of toast glipazide before it and metformin after it I went out for 3 hours did shopping had a starbucks decaf coffee came back home I was sweating all over shaking and could not even hold a pen I thought it was a hypo had a glass of orange juice a ham roll and a packet of crisps felt much better. Tonight I went to my parents house for a meal mince and potatoes vegetables raspberries and brambles with ice cream (low sugar) and a coffee, glipazide before and metformin after 2 hours later the same thing has happened shaky all over dizzy and I had 2 weetabix feeling a bit better. Confused because I am eating really differently than I did 2 weeks ago

You are having the hypos precisely because you are eating differently - eating much better in fact.

The glipizide forces extra insulin out of your pancreas. As you are doing an amazing job of reducing carbs in your diet, at the same time you need to cut down on the glipizide, otherwise you will get hypos. You may also need to cut down a little on the metformin in the longer term, but in the short term you definitely need to step down the glipizide. Slowly.

i agree with Spiker, your carb/insulin balance has changed due to your new diet.what strength Glipizide are you on 3X a day?
Talk to your Dr/DN about a strategy to cut it down to match your new carb intake.
e.g if on 3X5mg, a move to (2x5mg +1X1/2 X5mg) or even (2x1/2X5mg +1 X5mg) may be needed.

Geordie - As a matter of interest, what were your bloods when you were feeling hypo before you had your orange juice or Wheatabix?
