Having an HbA1c above 8 isn't the only criteria for getting a pump. Have a look on inputs website, it will give you all the ins and outs of who is eligible and ways you can access one. Having a fear of hypos and having a lot of hypos is another way. It does depend unfortunately where you live as getting a pump is sometimes a bit of a postcode lottery. I definitely wouldn't stop testing as much as you are that is often one of the conditions the consultants lay down is that you are doing everything possible to control your bg as you can meaning multiple tests and injections. Many people test more than 10 times a day on here. Another condition some consultants have before getting a pump is doing a carb counting course like dafne or something similar, have you been on one?
