www.diabetes.co.uk has more than just this forum and includes an easy to use Search.
For example, if you go to the Home page and type "Hb1AC" into the Search on the top right, one of the first results is this: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/what-is-hba1c.html. This will answer your question and more about the Hb1AC.
@Cana Well done on reducing your HbA1c from 87 originally to 61, and now to 54 (if the receptionist was correct).
54 is still in the diabetic range though, but hopefully your downward trend will continue.
Are you on metformin or any other diabetes meds? If you are your doctor might want to talk to you about reducing or coming off them.
Well done, that is a good reduction, but still a way to go ..... you need to be under 42 to get you to the non-diabetic range. (42 to 47 is pre-diabetic) Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully the next HbA1c will see you at your goal.

Cana - well done in moving your A1c in the right direction.
My comment to you would be to observe that you seem, in just the last couple of weeks, to have made a bit of a breakthrough, in terms of hunger and your way of eating. I would ask you to really concentrate on those changes, and the positive impacts you felt.
I honestly think thata by doing that you are very, very likely to see a further improvement in your numbers.
Nobody knows what their body can go. Nobody can know how you or any other person will set their own dials, in terms of risk, reward and the amount of change and hwall of that fits into their bigger picture.
Stock with it. I think you will find it to be worthwhile.
