My last hba1c was in August- 62
I'm suppose to have my hba1c checked again in November, but doctor told me to have it done closer to the end of November since I had my hba1c done August 14th. Now does it matter if it's done earlier than 12 weeks? Or will it be no different to the results?
I'm even thinking of getting it done in February at the 6 month mark?

The hb1ac measures glycation of the red bloods cells Ie how sugar coated they are. Each cell lives on average 12 weeks. So by spacing the tests 3 months apart you theoretically have all new cells compared to the last test. If changes are made following a test these changes are accurately reflected in all new cells.

A test of shorter interval will be indicative of changes but not as conclusive. A longer interval in my opinion just means anything preceding the last 3 months is untested and unknown.

not everyone’s cells renew at 12 weeks. Some have a faster turnover than others. This is just an average for example some types of anaemia affect this. There is an alternative frucosimide (?sp) test if your blood cells are suspected of being atypical.

Why wait 6 months if 3 months is on offer? It gives you more regular feedback. If you’re on track great reassurance, if not then more warning is given to adjust further.

If I get my blood test done on the 14th November or later will it matter I would like to get it done on the 12 week. I will get a blood form from the surgery and get it done on the day.

It’s not an exact thing. 12 weeks is an average. If you last had it done mid August anywhere mid November will be fine imo

I'm looking forward to having it done. My blood sugars have been between 5-6 so if my hba1c is between 40-45 I'll be happy
