Is metformin ok to take during pregnancy? I thought you had to come off it during. I'm no expert tho. XI'm not really sure myself how I managed it to be honest!! I test constantly and correct if needed by a few units! I also now take metformin 3 x daily instead of twice which seems to be helping too!x
So I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and just got the results from my latest Hb and its 42!! Which I think is 7? I'm so proud of myself because of never tried so hard and I really want the best possible chance for my baby to be healthy! It was 8.4 at conception!! Just wanted to sharexx
Even better newsWell done. Yes, your HbA1c converts to 7mmol/l (units seen on our meters) Good luck!
Even better news
A reading of 42 is actually 6.0 and not 7.0
A HbA1c of 7.0 is 53 in the new system in the UK
i made that a 6@Bluetit1802
Sorry beg to disagree,
For Hba1c the new measurement is in mmol/mol, and not in mmol/l.
The reading you get from a Meter (Finger Prick) is expressed in mmol/L or mg/dl.
In SA when you have a test you get readings like the following
Hb1ac 4.7%
B-HB1AC (IFCC) 28mmol/mol
Estimated Average Glucose 4.9 mmol/L
I think you have confused the units

My last two readings hba1c were 5.7 and 5.9 which are 39 and 41 .....so now I am confused
Because 42 would not be 7
Totally agree 42 would be 6 and not 7My last two readings hba1c were 5.7 and 5.9 which are 39 and 41 .....so now I am confused

Yes , I always get the readings converted when I pick up my hba1c results ....Totally agree 42 would be 6 and not 7
(That's what I said !)
