It's like banging your head against a brick wall. I live in London and the past week my sugar levels have been very up and down but mainly high due to the heat.. i know we shouldn't complain about good weather, but i'm looking forward to it cooling down!! Moan over.

I had a problem just over a week ago, but when I started a new insulin pen my glucose levels went back to normal fairly quickly - so maybe I'd let my insulin get a bit too warm and it had lost some of its potency - can't be sure.

Do you normally have problems in hot weather?

Actually that's a good point! I hadn't thought of that.. not had this problem before i have only been type1 for one year.. so i'm still learning all this! i will take a new pen out of the fridge and see if that makes a difference. Thank you!

I have type 1 diabetes and I live near brighton, the heats been unbearable. I used to love the Sun an heat bt since having this I can't cope with the heat and my blood sugars are so up and down. .. it's rubbish

Heat generally causes BG's to drop because your body is working harder to cool its self down.

If your BG is climbing it's also quite possible that the insulin isn't being absorbed properly because of frequently used injection sites.

There are loads of variables these bodies of ours don't always react the way we think tge should or even how the book says it will.

Martin

Yeah, that's true.. they were my thoughts too originally..i suppose dehydration can also cause a rise in sugar levels.. thanks for the advice martin! It all helps!

Dehydration can give you a false high as your blood is more concentrated. However as soon as you rehydrate you can plunge. So watch out for that. It feels like it's breaking now thankfully.
