Hi all,
I was diagnosed type 1 just over a month ago. This was quite a surprise as I'm 40+ yrs old. I'm on 2 insulin injections a day and I must admit thing aren't going too bad. I've not had too many problems that my DSN hasn't been able to help with.
Just thought I'd introduce myself because I'm sure I'll need some help and advice soon.
Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
Welcome. I have some T1s in my family who were all diagnosed between the age of 7 and 16, so for a long time I thought older people couldn't get T1. Then a friend got it at 37 and I found this forum and saw that lots of people get it as adults. So it's unusual but not too unusual, if you get my drift. It would certainly be a surprise for you. Glad to hear you are adapting to it so well.
