Hello from a newbie

Hello me lovelies

I would like to first of all give you a bit of background info about me...

At the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010 {cant remember which because i have bad memory} i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in my 4th pregnancy, at first i was told to watch what i eat...no good, blood sugars never budged so they put me on metformin...no good, just made me poorly...then came the insulin which thankfully my blood sugars gradually came down, i also monitored my bloods too.
After i gave birth to my little boy the diabetes went away but was told to be careful because there was a high chance of it coming back...so i thought don't think so!! {yeah you know what that thought did}

In 2011 i ended up having my gallbladder removed but due to this i ended up with a strange eating pattern because i was so frightened of eating due to the pain, it meant i only ate before i went to bed and just crossed my fingers it wouldn't flare up through the night...a lot of the times though it did so my plan didn't work, anyhoo like i say i had it removed at the end of 2011 but kept the same eating pattern...guess i was sooo use to doing it!!

For the last 18 months or so i been really poorly catching everything that went around...as quick i got over one thing something else came along *sigh* anyhoo in march this year i had a tablet review with the nurse who noticed i was poorly again so she decided to do some blood tests, they came back with high cholesterol and raised blood sugars so again had to have more bloods done, again came back raised blood sugars....mmmmm not a happy bunny!!

On April 22nd i had to go and see the nurse practitioner to discuss the problems and was told i had Type 2 diabetes but unfortunately the receptionist didn't book the appropriate appointment so only had a few minutes to talk...he told me to start getting to a regular eating pattern, each less carbs and think about losing weight....yeah i am overweight *sigh* and gave me a little booklet to read until my next appointment which is on the 8th May which is a longer one and going to talk about possibilities of meds, whether i need to be monitoring etc etc

I am still not feeling well and been having what i think is hypo's, not 100% because i don't have a meter to check but this is what happens...

i start burning up, i get the shakes, headaches and can't think straight, i can also get quite stroppy and agitated, also tired but after i have had something to eat like some cereal if i can stomach eating i still feel so drained and tired...its really starting to ware me down and getting really upset with myself, just wish Thursday would hurry up and get here!!

Oh before i forget they told me my HbA1c is 62 and Cholesterol is 5.3....i am sorry for waffling on and i really do appreciate you all taking the time to read it but i think i just needed to get it off my chest and get the help i need and thought this would be the best place to come and get it

Thanks for jack412 for getting back to me....slow release metformin, never heard of but i will mention it to the nurse when i see him because i don't fancy giving metformin a go and being ill again with it *fingers crossed* he will agree!!

As for the insulin...all i was told was when to monitor which was quite often and when to inject and how much to inject....i was on humalog and then i night time one but can't remember the name of it.

Its funny you mention that meter because i was just looking at that one yesterday and debated whether to order one but wasn't sure if it would be any good...think i will go and order it, thank you

Nice to be here , but awful to have to,cope with all this diabetic stuff.....

You say that now but give it a couple of weeks and then you will all be doing this and wishing i never came on!!
