Hello,

I just joined this forum thing, but... I have no idea how anything works. Obviously I've found out how to post a new topic but that's it! So, do I introduce myself now or something?

Well. I'm Beth (Bethanee). I'm 14 years old, and I've had type 1 diabetes since December 24th 08. Christmas eve... it was probably the worst day of my life, (but a strangely great Christmas!). I'm not great at controlling my diabetes, and I can openly admit that. In fact, I'm terrible. My average readings are around about 12-15mmls. I could do it if I tried (I'm not an idiot) but I need the encouragement. So I think that's why I joined really... for encouragement. And just to chat in general about my interests and what-not.

Thanks

Hello Beth and welcome

If you look right down at the bottom of the Board Index you will find a Youth Club section where you can chat to others of your own age. However that does not mean that you can't chat to the rest of us!

There is masses on this forum and usually someone to help if you have any questions. 8)

Hi Beth, welcome to the forum. It's great that you have joined as there is a wealth of information on here and lots of great people who want to help others.

Your levels are a little on the high side and I won't nag you about the importance of keeping good control (i'll leave that to your mum), but in all honestly if you can get your levels a bit lower that would be beneficial to you in the long run. Complications from diabetes don't happen overnight, but over the long term higher levels can lead to them.

I have 2 children with type 1 and my husband was diagnosed with it when he was 14, so although I don't have it myself I am surrounded by people who do!

Hope you get as much out of joining here as I have.

Leggott.
