hi,

i am new on here. my husband who is 48 was diagnosed with grade 2 diabetes yesterday. he came home from the doctor with a little infomation about everything from support groups to diet.

his diabetes can be controlled by diet but as i do all the shopping and most of the cooking  i thought the more i can learn about the condition the better.

Hi ma tango and welcome to the forum So that you can look after your husband as well as possible, here is some information the Forum Monitors have written to give to new members which I think will help you. Diet is obviously very important for him. You don't mention testing but that is very important too so that you know what effect certain foods have on his levels so you know what he can safely eat.

thankyou,

that actually does help a lot and i already feel more positive after just looking on this forum. for now my hubby has been told to totally cut out certain foods. i assume this is to get the diabetes under control, then we can work on which foods affect him more as the info sheet says.
