Just a quick introduction. I'm a 71 yr old male and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 9 months ago. I'm taking 2 x 500mg Metformin tablets twice a day and injecting 10 units of insulin each morning. It's a steep learning curve and I'm still struggling to get my blood sugar readings below 7mmol pre-prandial and below 10mmol post-prandial. The cause of my diabetes is probably the chronic pancreatitis which was diagnosed at the same time. I'm also taking Creon to help with digestion - looks like my pancreas has stopped working! I know that diet is probably my main problem - getting used to smaller portions, fewer carbs, more fibre, etc. isn't easy after a lifetime of over-indulgence, but hopefully with the advice in this forum I'll be encouraged to make further lifestyle changes.
