Hi, I'm not sure if i should be here or not, just been told by doctor that I have 'pre diabetes' and need to adjust my diet/lifestyle accordingly to stave off full diabetes. Although my neighbour and friend has type 1 and I'm aware how serious that is for her with her pump and hypo's etc, I've never heard of 'pre diabetes' until now, so not sure if its something I need to be concerned with or whether its just a 'new' thing doctors say...

Hello all and thank you for reading, I'm Alison.

Take it seriously Alison. You are lucky to have been given the opportunity to address it before it urns into full diabetes. It may never do so if you take control.
Look around the forum lots of help and advice around!

Hi Alison and welcome to the forum If you look after yourself now, as your doctor says, you can possibly prevent yourself from becoming diabetic in the future. It is not just a "new" thing doctors say and needs taking seriously to help avoid future problems. Diet is a very important factor in this and you need to cut down on the carbohydrates you eat. You did the right thing coming to this forum as you will be able to learn lots of things that will help you. Here is some information we give to newly diagnosed members but parts of this will be useful to you too, particularly on diet and carbohydrates. Feel free to ask questions - there is usually someone who will know the answer.
