Hi, just wanted to hello, i was diagnosed in 2002 with type 2, and i have been trying to control it with tablets, but in the last few months have failed Im looking to chat because on Friday I saw my doctor who not only changed my tablets but also said that I can no longer eat any carbs, no fruit, did not encourage me to exersise, I have an on going problem with my knees, I came out of that appointment feeling like I had no hope, I would really value any comments any one has, look forward to hearing from you, thanks

hi Tina.... make sure you've been diagnosed correctly firstly... sometimes type 1.5 is incorrectly diagnosed as type 2. Also if you've had type 2 for a while you may need to have your insulin level checked (C-peptide test) to see exactly how much insulin your pancreas is producing. FYI - my meds stopped working on me too even with diet and exercise my BGLs remained about 7 mostly. When they finally did another C-peptide test on me they found I wasn't producing enough of my own insulin and that I needed to top up insulin in my body. So these days I'm on insulin injections. I didn't like the idea at first... but I've found at least I can get lower BGLs these days than I used to. All the best

I don't think i'd get on with your doctor! I had a motorbike accident years ago 1 of my many injuries was nerve damage to my foot. Just before the accident I was selected for the 1st team at badminton. I had a very positive physio and I have him no choice but to help me get that team place back. For 18 months I couldn't lift my foot, but my recovery is such that for the last 2 years I have been in the 1st team. So whilst I don't condone ignoring medical advice, when it comes to your own fitness never give up, the body is incredible you just need to di the right things to assist it in the right direction.

Welcome aboard i am Martina from Canada, i am a type 2 diabetic for 7 years and i am on Lantus insulin. this is a great board to get lots of great info on
