Hi ,I have been type 2 diabetic for around 10 years now and have just started using insulin.
I thought this would sortr me out but boy was I ever wrong

My diabetic health team are slowly increasing my insulin levels but my fasting readings are getting higher.

I'm confused to say the least.

Hi mrs m and welcome to the forum

Some insulin users will be along soon to help you with your question. In the meantime, here is some basic information that we give out to new members, even though you have had diabetes for a long while now. I am sure you will find it helpful. Ask all the questions you like as there will always be someone who can answer.

The carbs issue has me baffled.
I have been told by my diabetic nurse that I should have carbs at every meal. :?

Hi mrs m, afraid its the standard NHS/Nice advise. Eat carbs and we'll just top up the insulin, tablets etc. Wanted to say hi and welcome. Look around the site you will soon find your way. Most of us low carb/low GI etc. Basically its cutting out all the white ****, sugar, potatoes, rice, pasta, most fruit. you might want to google low carb, there is loads of info out there, and its not just Atkins. Also check out Amazon for good low carb recipe books.
Someone will be along to point you in the right direction.

Thank you for your help and advice.

My nurse assured me I would feel better in no time at all.

I wish she was right.

She's only doing her job, unfortunately most folk follow the party line and then go home. They aren't paid to research and rock boats. Do you have a meter? You need to test test test about 2 hours after eating, pretty soon you will find out what food is good or bad for your BS.
