Hello!!

when you first cut carbs you shed a lot of water, you need to drink more and add an extra teaspoon of salt a day, you may find that added healthy fats help too

Thanks jack412 - i will try this and see how i go.

Salt might be an issue though as i hate it But for my health's sake i will give it a try.

Prior to November 2013 i hadn't been to my GP in years!! I don't want to keep going back to the doctors as i go often enough as it is now - the GPs secretary knows me by my first name and so does my Pharmacist i go in that often

the salt is important, perhaps try it in 2lt of water, you may not notice it much and you should be drinking at least that much
I know there were a lot of links, but that is a wealth of knowledge I've got off the forum in 9 months. from people who have lived it
here is the first week low carb again

Thanks for that link - i did read it last time...i promise jack412 - this is what i mean, my memory is shocking!!

The video in one of the links about the low carb high fat diet was very informative -the talk given by the Swedish guy - it does go against everything we are taught to believe about food but at the same time it made a lot of sense.

I must have been a school marm in a past life, it was a bit preachy ..sorry

Just thought i would give you all an update.

I went to see my Diabetic Nurse on Friday and i had tests done on my feet - the two forked prong vibration test i didn't feel in either foot. The other test i did feel. Also mentioned my foot pain and this is due to the diabetes so i'm told and should lessen once my blood sugar reduces.

I have had a significant amount of bone pain in my feet, ankles, shin, knee and forearm on the right side. I get the bone pain also on my left foot.

I have gone from 101.8kgs (in July 2014) to 98.3kgs (in October 2014) after i was diagnosed with diabetes and now i am 93kgs (in November 2014)
I am so pleased

I was also told my glucose levels (Glucose monitor tests) have significantly improved and the nurse was quite happy with me

My thirst issue has got worse though and i have been frequently getting up during the night to go to the toilet but my glucose levels are good. I mentioned this to my Diabetic Nurse and she ordered i have some blood tests -

Thyroid function
Hba1c
Renal
TPO antibodies
Ferritin

I have to wait till my GP get's the above results so i can get copies.

I got a call from my Diabetic Nurse today, she had received some of my blood results today and as a result of these blood results my Endocrinologist has decided i have to do a 24 hour collection of urine one day over the weekend. I am guessing there was a problem with my renal results. Plus i have to have a Bone Profile Test done to see why my bones are hurting. - i will be doing the test on Friday.

I am quite happy some improvements have been made but i am now feeling anxious about my kidneys now and also the bone pain is a worry but at least they are being investigated. I am not going to worry about it till and if there is something wrong

Hope everyone is feeling well

MsPrim

To the forum Amanda.

Well done on your wait loss Amanda, keep going on improving your blood sugars - that will help with other possible conditions.

just making sure the extra Teaspoon salt was for the adjustment period for the first week or two, as per the link, after that it's a total teaspoon a day from all sources.
too much salt will get your fluids flushing..also as we age our kidneys work better at night than the day...god knows why

I only took the extra salt for a week - i thought i would have been more thirsty during this time too But it didn't happen

I tend to be going to the toilet a lot during the day as well as night - maybe it's the cold

ok, it's not salt then..does your Dr know you're on a diet? that can increase your creatinine ...you might have thrown some protein in your urine sample, or a dozen other things, another member said they were going to do a 24hr collection last week too

I have to do the 24 hour collection test on Sunday and on Friday i will be getting more bloods taken for a Bone Density test - i just hope it's a minor blip and nothing major - but i won't worry unless i need too

Once i find out the results i will let you all know
