I am 10 weeks pregnant (I was tested early because of GD in my previous pregnancy) and have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I am currently under observation for trial and error in lowering blood sugar via diet although, looking at my readings, I'm certain I'll be put on insulin soon. I have also been told to walk but find a low intensity pregnancy interval work out easier. Walking even at a slow pace leaves me breathless.
My Fasting readings are within range of 6-7 (high 6's) and I decided to work out after breakfast so that when I took my reading an hour later, it would be within range but this back fired and my blood sugar levels were two units higher than without the work out!
Generally my fasting levels are high and EVERYTHING, carbs or no carbs, drives my sugar levels up!
Has anyone else had to deal with this?
I also don't understand why sometimes my sugar jumps up two units and with the same meal on another day jumps up 6!
Hi @Rrlacy, Welcome to the forum !!!
Without knowing what form of diabetes you have been diagnosed with, what your diet is and what treatment you are prescribed it is a little difficult to provide an informative answer.
If you could tell us a little about those things someone or more can give you some suggestions, thoughts and lend their experience. Best Wishes

I can't claim to know much about GD but many people find that glucose levels rise after a workout. You liver may release glucose to help your muscles recover after strenuous exercise, but with diabetes your body canot use the glucose so it stays in the blood.
You could try a more gentle exercise like going for a walk and see what happens.

Hi @Rrlacy, I would suggest you get yourself referred to an endo who specialises in managing persons with gestational and other forms of diabetes during pregnancy.
This si something your GP or obstetrics team needs to do.
