welcome. Most of us manage our type 2 by reducing the food that raises glucose (sugar). And that is carbohydrates. That means bread, rice, pasta, potato, pastry, cereals, flour, dried or liquid fruit, tropical fruit as well as sugar itself. Some do it quite drastically quite quickly. Some edge their way down. Depends on if your mum is on medication and If so which one the best approach to it. Getting the diabetes under control this way almost always helps with other parts of the metabolic syndrome of high blood pressure, high weight (especially around the belly), high triglycerides and often other conditions too.
