Yes take your insulin but keep testing every 2hrs to make sure that your bg levels are ok again before you go to bed. Might be worth you also do a test during the night.
Dont worry we have all done what youve just said. Ive done it a few times that's for sure
Just make sure now that you test every 2hrs for the next 4hrs at least so that you know what your bg levels. If they are still high after 4hrs then use the 100 rule to work out a correction if you need to.
I haven't a clue what to do re corrections, I haven't had any instruction with this yet other than what I've picked up in the forum. I'm supposed to take 5 units with every meal but have (til now) been having 1 unit per 5 grams of carbs and been OKish. Stopped taking gliclizide 2 weeks ago and been on a bit of a rollercoaster since although until now, had more stable BG's between 3.5 and 11 as opposed to 1.9 and 15 that was before.
Correction doses of bolus insulin are worked out on what your TDD is (total daily dose including all bolus and basal insulin added together). As you dont know yet what your true TDD is as you are still experimenting getting your bolus doses correct for what you eat, use 1u bolus will lower your bg by 2mmol but use a target to aim to like 8mmol. So if after 4hrs your bg is for ex 12mmol take 8mmol away from it = 4mmol. 4mmol divided by 2mmol = 2 so your correction dose will be 2u of bolus. This is all based on the 100 rule. You will find that in time your correction factor will alter as your TDD will also alter as you start to get bg levels that are within target ranges.
