help me am lost

hi my name is stuart i was told 5 months ago i had diabetes and it was a big thing for me to take in. in my past av been a bad lad smoking 80 cigs a day and drinking 15 to 20 pints on a fri and sat night tut tut but i gave up smoking over 3 years ago and not had 1 since and on the very rare occasion that i go out for a drink i only have maybe 4 pints and i have had enough my problem is i have had all the tests etc heart/liver as i have high blood presure also and thank god there was no lasting damage to my organs. i cannot lose any weight at all i have totaly changed the way i eat in every way possible im walking more eating salards everything but nothing is comming off so i am getting to the point of chucking the towel in and thinking whats the point. i did put 3.5 stone on when i gave up smoking has anybody got any helpfull tips for me thanks stu.

That is pretty amazing! I get plastered if I have three glasses of wine.

I suspect you must be quite fit metabolically to be able to get away scot free with all that.

Many of us find that cutting down on beer, sugars and starches helps control blood sugars better.

Is socialising important to you?

What do you like to eat?

Any chance of getting you out of the pub and into a gym?
 
when I stopped smoking (Jan 07 - 'only' 20 a day!) I put on 1.5 stone. Had always been 12 stone 9 before now 14.5.

I use the gym hard 3 times a week. Can't loose it.

Re the drinking, I dont as much as used to because of retinopathy. After a reasonable sesh I normally have a little bleed :cry:

Just eat well. If low carb suits you then stick to that. Go to get a bit of exercise too. Lowers BP.

hi again thanks for your replys yes i have had my thy test clear and yes i am very lucky not to have any problems. and now i dont go to the pub at all haha very rare only a few pints and av had it i want to go home its very funny how people can change when they have had the shits put up them with threre health. as i said i smoked 80 cigs when i was working as a wagon driver then i jacked the job gave up smoking and may i had i gave up without any help at all no gum no tabs no nothing set the day and that was it boom (still got no money )lol .and since i have gone onto the met having a drink makes me feel sick has anybody had this problem? . anyway thanks again for your replys
