I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last June. I was going great at the start but since christmas ive been feeling down and stressed as my son is due a big operation this year and im a single parent. My mum and dad both have health issues and also money worries is greatly affecting me too. Ive found old habits of eating sweets etc creeping back in again. Anyone else ever felt like things are getting to them? Anyone any tips on how to curb a sweet tooth and to get round wanting to eat ****?

Lots of people suffer from emotional eating, not just diabetics, though obviously it is worse for diabetics. I struggle with this too. The Lighter Life course use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to try to break the connections between feeling down and eating carbs/****. That costs money though. If you Google on Emotional Eating you will find some free resources on line. I guess the bottom line is that somewhere deep inside, some of us have the belief that eating food makes us happy, when we are sad. The reality is it makes us happy for a moment, but then makes us more sad and less healthy.

I think its all down to the stress im under at the moment, and I dont get out much either which doesnt help, but sure ill get there in the end....hopefully

It's not a solution to the problem but you could try sugar free sweets instead of sugar filled ones.
