help with diabetes

I have been a diabetic for about 15 years I am a type 3 diagnosed by specialist at hospital no one else has ever heard of this type .I had a whipples op when I was 9years old hence becoming a diabetic later in life .I have been struggling for years and feel so alone .I dont manage it well and already have nerve damage in legs and eyesight not good .I haven't taken my nova rapid for 10 months now and have only taken a reduced amount of levemuir for about same time I don't see doctors as they dont seem to want to help me .just dont want to be around anymore .I take jobs on to help out with family bills but cant keep them because im constantly tired .I could wright loads more .I take 21 tablets a day and if I took my insulin properly I would be on 5 injections a day .

why dont you take your insulin? Would you not feel better for doing so?
 
Hi nat, Ask your GP if they could refer to a hospital with a diabetes team. I don't know what your blood glucose readings are but with your other ills I assume that the readings could be HIGH since you aren't taking your insulin on a regular basis.

I'm type 1 who inject a minimum of 4 times a day. I din't know much about type3 diabetes but I read somewhere on the net that the USA 'use' this term. I'll look up type 3 on google to see what it says. Surely the hospital which diagnosed could have put you in touch with their diabetes team????

Please google levemir and tiredness and see what comes up. This insulin and lantus almost did me in. My system cannot tolerate these insulins and suffered badly for 3 years until I complained to the hospital..after using my daughter's insulins and felt better on it.

Type 3 diabetes

This term is often used when for when the pancreas has been removed for medical reasons, pancreatic cancer, pancreatise, removed to server damage caused by accident etc.. Type 3 does have extra problems to T1 diabetes, because not only has the body lost it's ability to produce insulin, but also loses the safety net, ad the signal for the liver to dump it's store of glucose into the blood stream has also gone, so Glucogen won't work. And the body also loses other enzymes that the pancreas produces to aid digestion of food..

In the OP case I am surprised it's being referred to as T3, as normally you'd expect the patient to become T3 on removal of the pancreas and not years later..
 
Type 3 is a broader brush than just by pancreas removal.

Hi Nat, I hope time has changed your position. I am also type 3. Whipples in 2005, yet not told of being diabetic until 08/09. But as with you it will have been instant, just took that long to become bad enough to recognise. Not enough information by far and I complained.
I have 4 injections daily, my Levemer once, and NovaRapide with meals. You need to be in control of it not it controlling you. I too couldn't be bothered with taking properly etc until I got neuropathy. That was my wake up call. Injections take moments and give us the scope to lead a near as dammit normal life.
