Yeah, I know hep c wouldn't have directly caused my son to have down syndrome but I do wonder about the poor health over a life time being the cause. Statistically it most likely comes from me as only something like 8% of down syndrome comes from the male. I might find out one day out of curiosity. I also realise I was only at a small risk of contracting hep c but Khaleb (being T1) would have a large risk who could then potentially be a high risk to me and nursing staff. It is the lying that made it most upsetting and hearing it from someone else. I don't know much history about the ex but think she was involved with drug use. She found out she tested positive while pregnant but the child has never been tested and often complained of mysterious illness/pains, so who knows?
Hope you have better luck with a new GP. I'm sure some doctors put people in the too hard basket and can't be bothered writing a referral to a specialist.
