Don't have diabetes
I'm giving lchf a go again to try to lower my hba1c. It was 38 and crept up to 40 3 months later. My gp is keeping an eye on me. I know it's not present diabetic until 42 but it's very high end of normal so I want to try to bring it down.

I tried lchf a few weeks ago and after 5 days felt ill. Is dropped my carbs to 100g. This time I'm keeping them at 150g for now which is about 50 less than I normally eat. So how high should my fat and protein be? I eat around 1600 cals a day. I'm 36, female and 116lbs.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Have a look here: http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/DietMakeupCalc.php - it's something you'll have to work out according to your own situation/requirements, as it's not a one size fits all...

Also look on Google for information regarding low carb/keto/Atkins flu. When you reduce your carbohydrate consumption, sometimes your body can get withdrawal symptoms, and this may have been what you were experiencing. But this will generally disappear within a week or so once your body has "detoxed" itself. Just make sure you drink plenty of fluids, and keep your salt and potassium levels up - try stock cubes or home made broth.
