I hope someone can give me some advice...I am 52, female, average weight and height, no family members with diabetes. I have started a community job so spend much more time driving, and am definitely exercising less.

I wake in the mornings with a sweet taste in my mouth that can last most of the day. I battle to drink enough being on the go and constantly have a dry ***** mouth.

I make sure I eat a healthy breakfast - porridge usually - but often do end up skipping lunch. If I do my husband often says at the end of the day that my breath smells strange, like his mother's who is Type 2 diabetes.

I can have absorption problems as my colon was removed after years of ulcerative colitis, and I now have an internal pouch. Small sized foods pass directly through, as can pills, and the digestive process seems faster, although I battle to digest red meat so my diet is more towards vegetarian.

Meds: warfarin for a sticky blood disorder and antidepressant (bipolar 2 but trying not to have moodstabilizer due to unpleasant side effects).

Would it make sense to buy a glucose meter and monitor the situation?

Sorry to bother but would be grateful for advice - I don't work near my GP surgery so not my first port of call.

Thank you!

Thank you!

If I were you I would see your GP. He is the only one that can diagnose you with a blood test. That would put your mind at rest.
Buy a meter by all means, but do see your GP.
