I think you meant to write Venlafaxine? If so, you might want to ask your doctor about going up to 225mg, as my doctor told me this is the dose where it starts being effective. He might have meant that just in relation to me, but at the time I took it to mean it was like that for everyone. At the time, I asked him if I could drop down to 150mg and he said it wouldn't be a good idea. Just something to ask your doctor about.
 

Hiya Catlady, just a comment re the Venlafaxine, hope you (and Craig!) doesn't mind? I think it is very much a personal thing, especially when there are other meds in the mix, I know quite a few people who are managing well on lower doses of 75 and 150mg. I note that Craig is on the highest dosage of Mirtazapine and is also taking Pregabalin (Lyrica) too, both of which will impact on the Ven. I think it's recognised as a med that has it's own problems with a very specific withdrawal syndrome so maybe treat with caution, especially as he says he has issues with getting to see a doc that he feels comfortable with? Not a criticism at all x

I have been taking most of these meds now for more than 20 years for depression eat and I'm very reluctant to change them as I'm sort of on a level now mental health wise.
 
I did start on a lower dose and have gone up through the years.
 
Well, I did say it was something to discuss with his doctor. I can only say what my doctor told me. Yes, Venlafaxine has its downsides, and I wouldn't recommend it as a first line option. If someone is on it, that suggests they must really need it.

That's great to hear I thought from your posts that you weren't on a good level and wanted ideas for tweaking things. I'm a big fan of taking the minimum effective dose of any med, especially one that can have bad side effects, like Venlafaxine. If 150mg is working for you, that's awesome.
 
I have been in them for about 10 years prior to that i was on Prozac and had trouble getting off them.
