I am type 1. Up till a couple of months ago I was on Mixtard 30 but that had a few issues. Firstly, the doctors believe it contributed to my varying moods. One time I got angry sinmply because my pencil was on the wrong part of my desk  Secondly, they stopped the production of it this year (because it caused too many hypos during the night I think, I had 2 bad ones that caused me to go to the hospital) so I had to see the other options. What I'm on now is MDI/FABB. This is where I inject myself with long acting insulin once a day and then inject with a quick acting insulin whenever I eat. So I have to count carbs to know how much insulin I take. This alot better because it's sorted my moods out and find sport, exercising and drinking a lot easier

Hello Ricey and welcome!

Thank you very much!

Hiya ricey, Have clicked on wrong button n it split paged  [whoops] my apologies, wont happen again. You have been through bit of a tough time with your insulin changes and hopefully things are starting to settle down now for you, hopefully you will find things easier to cope with, you're only young and need to be able to go out and enjoy yourself. The weather is great at the moment ideal for some sport and a drink at the weekend. Anna.x

Hi all,I was diagnosed last November with type 2 before then i was a diet controlled diabetic that some how fell into an insulin controlled type 2 diabetic,it struck me at the tender age of 67,and believe me i was shocked,i am on 2 jabs a day and use novo mix 30,has anyone used this type of insulin and what are your opinions.thanks owain

I wouldn't worry about it, Anna Things have been ALOT better since the change. It's a bit of a pain that I have to carry and use my needles more frequetly but it's in my best interest so....I'd love to go out with my friends but they're all in different parts of the UK or work all the time XD I've played golf today so at least I've done something.

Hey Owain,
That was the insulin that they were going to put me on because my old insulin was made reduntant. They told me ensured me it was alot better because it would be in the system for a shorter period of time and hence cause less fluctuations during the day which was what made me have mental mood issues. Also, it has less lows during the night which was why mixtard30 isn't being made anymore

Hi Seaman and welcome to the forum You will find out all you need to know here - if you can't find it here already just ask a question and someone will be pleased to answer. Just to help you out, I don't know if you are newly diagnosed or not, here is some information written by our friends Sue and Ken, former monitors, for new members. Not all of this information applies in the USA though.

Hi there George

'Fraid I haven't noticed any issues with my hair but then again I'm only 20. Maybe one of the people who've been on here longer might know a little more.

Seaman, the exact same reasons I joined. Good to know Nice meeting you as well
