Hi guys I'm 22 and from Nottingham although now living in Leeds.

I have just graduated from a computer networking degree at Nottingham Trent University.

I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a month or so ago when I moved to Leeds and decided I had better pay a visit to the doctors (since I don't think I have been in the last 6 years or so).

I already had a pretty good idea that I would be confirmed to have diabetes since I had been stupidly ignoring the symptoms whilst I lived the student life style of high alcohol consumption and fast foods (which is very much over now and reality is here).

I'm currently taking the oral medication 'Metformin' and the symptoms have now very much settled (thirst being the worst).

Thanks Gary

I wouldn't think too many 22 yr olds would have T2 diabetes. Have you had blood tests to confirm which type you have?

Yes i have had the blood tests. I have been very overweight in the past plus type 2 is within the family.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like you have sorted yourself out enough to make your health a priority. The Moderators on here tend to copy and paste some good advice for the newly diagnosed.

All the best Gary.

Thanks Jen, missed this one !

Below is the advice which may be of use to you.
