Prediabetes
My name is Dave and am 47 years old. I have just been told that i have prediabetes which took me by surprise as i am an active runner and a little over weight but does explain why i have put some weight back on and not running to my old standard,i have taken part in some races recently and did a bit of carb loading which may have not helped. My doctor didn't tell me my number so i don't know how far along the scale i am. I am thinking of buying a meter any thing i should need to look for. Cheers Dave

Hi @Dave7 and welcome to the forum. Well done for taking action to deal with your pre-diabetes, and finding this forum. You will find a lot of good advice and support here.
The good news is that you should be able to lower your blood sugar levels and avoid becoming diabetic. You obviously exercise which is good. a lot of us on this forum have found we can control our blood sugar levels by avoiding sweet sugary stuff and reducing starchy carbohydrates like pasta, rice, potatoes and bread which turn into sugars in our bodies.
It is a good idea to buy a glucose meter as you will be able to find out which foods effect you more, and you can see how your bs levels are going.
Have a read round the threads and ask anything you want to. The people on here are friendly and supportive.
