All takes time, but you will both get there I am sure. There are plenty type 1's on the forum who can answer most questions or point you in the right direction.
Thank you all for welcome I sometimes feel like I need some support from people whose partners have diabetes. My DH's control is pretty good, he's lost lots of weight after being diagnosed thanks to his cycling, stopped smoking, he eats healthily and does not drink in excess. It's just he gets so low sometimes (his mood), and I wish I can find right words to help him cope.
