Hi all been diagnosed type 1 for a month after being misdiagnosed with type 2 for the previous 2 years. Upside no metformin which made me sick as a dog also now 34 inch waste which I missed first time round. Taken to it like a duck to water as managed my daughters for 10 years from 8 to 18 when I handed it over to her so lucky in one way. On the usual Novorapid and Levemir at a ration of .5 to 10 carbs. Only down side which I find frustrating is my eye sight never returned to normal after being high for a year while they decided I was type 1 but that could be down to age as well I suppose. I can get between 5 and 10 most readings but have to have a few biscuits while at work so I don't hypo.

If your having to have biscuits between meals to keep your bg levels up then it could be that your basal insulin needs adjusting.

Regards to your vision, book an eye appointment and have them checked, sometimes cataracts develop as we get older which can cloud vision, either that or wait until your next retinopathy check.

Maybe aim for 5 -9 or 5 - 8.5mmol/l and see if that makes any difference vision wise, by injecting ahead of your food you can reduce the postprandial spikes.

I cannot plan for when a delivery needs unloading as it could come anytime or not at all so I have to preload so I don't hypo or be high if it don't turn up.
