I have just signed up and thought that I would say hello.
I have been reading some of the comments regarding metformin and metformin MR.
I was diagnosed with type 2, 5 years ago and have had increasing glucose reading levels ever since.
I was on metformin, but what problems with loose bowels! I changed my Doc due to moving to another area and was put onto metformin MR.
What a change, and instant as well. That was over a year ago and no bowel problems since.
The glucose levels kept going up though. 18mol in the morning and 28mol pre-meal. I was sent to a specialist diabetic nurse who worked with my doctor, the hospital and consultants.
I was told about Victosa, (lirglutide), a new drug taken by injection into the thigh. I was asked if I wanted to take part in this and agreed.
That was 3 months ago and I am now down to 5mol in the morning and within normal ranges for type 2 pre 4-7, and post under 8.5, meals.
My last hca1c level was 104mol, 4 months ago and my last reading was 47mol.
Liraglutide is not used on it's own but is used in conjuction with other drugs like gliclazide etc.
Well guys, that's mycontribution for today. I hope it helps someone out there.
