My name is Pamela. I'm from West Australia. I'm type 2 on both bolus and basal insulin since Feb 2010. Before then I was a medications. I as diagnosed 14 years ago. I started out on diet and exercise only and managed pretty well on this for a couple of years before I couldn't get good control and was put on metformin. I've pretty much had most of the medications available and they all stopped working on me too.... I finally was given another GAD and C-peptide test beginning of 2010 and it was found that my body no longer produces enough insulin and I needed to top it up. That's why I'm now on insulin. I bolus about 32 units per day, and basal 16 units. My A1c is 6.6 and I've maintained this level over a year now. I'd like to get lower.... but I've come a long way as I used to have A1c of 9.2 and I never had anything lower than 7.2 for quite some time.

Hi Pamela and welcome to the forum Here is some information which should help you to get your levels down. This was written for new members and parts of it apply only to the UK but I'm sure you will find the diet and carbohydrate information helpful. Ask as many questions as you like as there is usually someone here who can answer.
