Hi Everyone.
Just joined your forum (I'm a total noob) - I've been reading some of the posts and thought it would be rude not to join in. I'm Steve, 38 and found out about 4 weeks ago that I have type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed with a fasting BG of 17.9  . I was booked in by the nurse to come back at the end of September for another blood test which will decide what treatment to put me on, but was told to get my blood sugar as low as I could.

After much confusion and then much research I think I am starting to get a grip of things. Bought a BG monitor (Bayer USB contour - I'm a gadget freak and am very impressed with the device and the software) and have managed to get my fasting BG down to 6.0 and my postprandial BG readings down to between 7.0 and 8.5 on the whole. Still trying to figure out which foods and meals push me over the limit and which don't, with some results that have surprised me.

So that's me - hello and a quick thank you to everyone who's posts I have read in the last few weeks. It helped me a lot to not feel so alone after I was first diagnosed (seriously thanks!).
