Hi I have been a type 1 diabetic for 30 years now. I cannot believe how long I have had it and how time flies.
I have lots of hobbies and interests but I do not work because I have other illnesses and everything together makes me too poorly to work. I do have some diabetic complications such as diabetic neuropathy and advanced diabetic retinopathy in both eyes. I am brittle diabetic which means I have very wild fluctuations of blood sugars. I have reduced awareness of Hypoglaecemia and so I test a lot and hope for the best. Correcting when necessary.
I love anime and I love art. I really like to read and love going on the computer and searching the net. I call it floating around, lol. This is because I look up one subject and go to others randomnly and sometimes end up in a totally different place to where I started. Because I am limited in my mobility now I love to have these cyber adventures. Visitng all different countries and cultures and studying to make my brain keep active and stimulated.
I love a good drama series and watch the occasional soap on TV.. I currently watch Eastenders but also like Home and Away. I watch Eastenders lateish on catch up tv so I can just unwind before sleeping.
I like animals very much. I even like them better than people. But I do try to keep in touch with a few people or people via the net. Just because I do not want to become a total recluse who is a lover of cats and primates but an avoider of a lot of humans. My other love in the animal world is squirrels. .
Hi Saber and welcome to the forum. I am sure that some T1s will be along soon to answer any questions you may have. BTW I am an Eastenders watcher too ! and an animal lover especially cats.
Lovely to meet you both. I have a cat called Izzy. She picked me one snowy day in February last year when she was abandoned. She was found meowing at my door. I did not know at first that she did not belong to someone and helped her by giving food and making an outdoor shelter. Once I found out she was abandoned I made moves to adopt her. I feel guilty I did not find out sooner but she is very happy with me now and lives in my home and just visits outside when she wants some outdoor play and adventure. She is my absolute best friend and I was meant to share my life with this wonderful animal. I do have human friends but she loves me unconditionally.Hello and welcome to the forum. I know what you mean with animals, especially cats, I have found members on hereto be very supportive and helpful and the forum is one of the bestWith best wishes.
