Hi

I was diagnosed with T2 around 8 months ago. I apologise in advance for the rant but despite the diagnosis I am unsure as to whether I have T2.
At the time of diagnosis I was suffering with gallstones and subsequently had my gallbladder removed. My diabetes nurse thinks this is too much of a coincidence and the high glucose levels could be attributed to this. At that time my fasting levels were around 11mmol and 2 hours after eating around 16mmol. I was put on 2g metformin 4 months later and these levels slowly came down.

As you can probably guess from my user name controlling my diet is extremely difficult for me, in fact bordering impossible. However. having been on metformin for around 4 months now I find that my postprandial levels are between 7 and 7.6 mmol regardless of what I eat, and believe me I eat.

Im having difficulty understanding this and would appreciate any opinions/experiences. Is it the case that these sugar levels will increase due to the degenerative nature of T2 or is it that my diabetes nurse's suspicions are correct and things are improving?

Thank you in advance.

Hi sweet-toothed and welcome to the forum
If you follow this information which we give to new members, you should find your levels gradually coming down. If you eat less carbohydrates, you will find you will want to eat less. Other members will be along soon, hopefully to be able to share some personal experiences with you.
