Those who try to tell me what I should do. Pompous, arrogant people who think they know everything after 5 minutes!
Good morning to everybody. A newbie here, not new to Diabetes though. Been diagnosed a long time and still on Metformin (2x500) only. I have sort of hovered round here for a few years and looked in for the information that is posted here which seems very good. I'm ex military and I know ~i sometimes am a bit blunt but that's me. I have always kept myself fit and exercise regularly. I love a challenge and Diabetes has always been one of the toughest, trying to stay fit and healthy and juggling life events! I was diagnosed just after I retired, a complete shock as no family history, not overweight, no symptoms, zilch! So I just treated it the way I have done things all my life and got on with it. No why me, how, what does it all mean, just accept it and get on with my life!

So, I may have some questions, a few answers, even an opinion or two, or three etc! Doesn't make me a bad person.

Hi Highlanders and welcome to the forum: Go ahead and ask your questions as there is usually someone who can answer you. And post your opinions too. You are certainly coping well with your diabetes. I see you have had diabetes for a long time but you might find this information for new members useful. You may have seen it in the past but it has been updated and it's possible you may not have seen the latest version.

Hi Daisy. Thank you very much for that. Yes, I have seen it before but I think it is really helpful and full of good tips for all those new, or even not so new to diabetes. I think it is great the way you welcome people btw, you must be very dedicated to do such a thing. I think I have been following that self same advice for some time now and it 'does what it says on the tin', it has worked for me.

So, a Big THANK YOU to you from little old me!

hi highlanders,

Welcome to the forum.

I see you have already been taking control.

How are your numbers doing?

Hi Mary. Thank you for the welcome. I should have joined sooner really. Been an avid 'guest' for several years and always checked here if there was anything I needed to know. My last HbA1c was 5.8 and all my daily readings are just fine thanks.

Nice to meet you,
