i have experienced big jumps in BG after playing football, i'd start around 5-6 and end up in the 20's, my diabetes nurse explained that i needed extra glucose for the exercise which was released into t he blood stream, but i didn't have enough insulin on board to move it to muscles so that i could use it,which meant it just kept rising.
I overcome this problem now by injetcing 1 unit of novorapid before football, this small dose is enough to prevent the massive rise, and no hypo's.
this may be an option for you to discuss with your DSN, if it happens frrquently.
