Hello from a fellow newbie,it is hard getting your head around all the information, but I joined here last week, not sure if I posted in right places but have had some nice supportive comments......sure you will too. Good luck....Thank you thank you noblehead.
Hi and welcome....don't worry ,...we don't bite and won't eat you ( unless you are low carb in which case you may get nibbled )Ty. It just seems a seesaw of information. "This is important" then next appt "don't worry about that too much". Almost screamed at the nurse last appt with just tell me what is important and what's not.
Only concern with forums is posting in the wrong place and getting yelled at :/

If you post in the wrong place someone will move it to where it should be....they won't shoot you for it don't worryYes,my D.N passed me over to the specialist nurses, now if I ask anything, and yes have lots of daily questions she just says oh ask S.D.N....another reason I joined forum....
Instead of nurse saying something positive she scared me witless with oh don't do this don't do that, then next breath but live a normal life!!! but specialist nurses seem more positive. It is scary to start but in the past week I've had comments of such help....so hope that others pick up and can offer you help....
I never know if I've posted in right place either!!!

Lol what a total joke but that is often the way with gps these days....I have similar confusion with my gp. How do you get on with keeping your bg down to acceptable levels? You guys are awesome.
Yes, meds are where it gets confusing. Had gestational diabetes that was only diagnosed after I had given birth (16 week wait for glucose tolerance test). Been on metformin since but GP kept emphasising I was NOT diabetic. Had surgery in February this year and hospital kept telling me I was diabetic. Looked at me real funny when I didn't know what my last bg reading was. 1 month later gp tells me I am diabetic. So, in short, yes, am on 1500mg metformin daily.

My gp told me to go home and eat broccoli and have a glass of wine....that was all the information I was givenLike you my g.p.insisted I wasn't diabetic,so much so that she shouted at me,( had previously been told I was as very ill and taken to A&E....) g.p. still said no......hospital started me on insulin there and then....have no faith in g.p. at all....but hospital has been great...

I can only thank God for this forum....I doubt I would have got this far without the lovely people here and all the brilliant advice and information they give. Oh and broccoli isnt so bad if you boil cook it first then toss in in the frying pan and smother it in butterUnbelievable......I felt like a two year old being shouted at....after consultant put me on insulin I actually wanted to "shove it in the GPS face"......I'm not a violent person just a person who was at the end of her tether.....could have done with your glass of wine but pass on the broccoli......seriously though, not good......
