Hi all

My name's Olly and I'm a type 2, diagnosed just over a year ago. I suffered through Autumn 2010 with the effects of 'sweet pee', before actually twigging that there might be a reason for it. And I really should have guessed, as my dad's type 1, as was his dad.

So we did a test on me with his kit, and my reading came out about 25. So fairly high! Got diagnosed just after Christmas 2011, and did fairly well with diet and metformin to begin with. However I regressed and started eating rubbish again and probably gained 1/2 a stone, to take me to about 16.5 stone.

A week ago the sweet pee came back, along with elevated thirst, despite being on metformin. This kind of shocked me into actually doing something about it, so I've completely changed my diet. I'd been fairly fit in the past and have had periods of obsessive gym attendance, so I'm used to diets and workouts. This has given me the kick I need to get back into it! (plus I'm getting married in 2 months, so losing a bit of weight won't hurt!)

Plus, literally a day after changing my diet, I started feeling a lot better on a day to day basis. I'd figured my feeling ****** was down to horrible working hours, but I'm feeling a lot better.

I'm hoping that my geeking out here will help me stay on track. That and the thought of my grandads prosthetic leg :?
