Hi i have been border line diabetic for a few years but started noticing different things happening to me so thought i would have a look for advice I'm 56 years old
 
So you've had tests done - what were your levels (fasting, HbA1c)?

What is happening to you?

We can probably give views, but if you are really concerned you should get yourself retested at your GP.

Yes, as Sanguine says, if you tell us your last blood test results, and give us some idea of the symptoms you are experiencing, we may be able to help you, but your GP is probably the best place to start.

Just got a letter in the post to make an appointment for my yearly check up so have to see the nurse & GP on Tuesday. I done the fasting test last year & was borderline told i could help myself by loosing weight but have had issues which have now been delft with got arthritis so can't exercise like i would like to what's happening now over the past 2 weeks i have been getting up to the toilet to urinate every 2 hours which is unusual for me. I'm ok during the day can go 4/5 hours with out needing to go & used to only get up once a night some times not at all but now getting up 3 times a night cant remember what my levels were but was told if i can loose weight i probably wouldn't need medication this was a year ago. I do eat healthy although to see me you wouldn't think so because i can't do much exercise i find it hard to loose weight i can loss 2/3 lbs but it goes back on in a few weeks so will see what the doctor says on Tuesday.
 
Having to pee more is certainly a sign of possible T2. You say you eat healthy, but for prediabetics and diabetics the NHS perception of 'healthy' is not helpful. What do you typically eat? Diabetics need to cut down on carbohydrates (= sugar) such as bread, potatoes, rice and pasta.
 
I have 2 slice of bread a day hardly ever eat rice or pasta eat a lot of chicken & salad eat lots of fruit i have sweeteners in my tea & have used for many years. My daughters are always telling me i don't eat enough no thirst not tired some night have to take 2 sleeping pills to get to sleep my only down fall is i like a small bar of chocolate at night time but have done this for years. I am on medication for high blood pressure & statins but blood pressure & cholesterol have been fine for years the urinating at night is just a new thing & i googled it which brought it back to being diabetic going on holiday in 4 weeks so not good news if it is diabetes.
 
I think your best bet is to go to your GP and tell him your worries, and the sooner the better. The night time urination could even be something else entirely - what affects me in that way is how much fluid I drink in the evenings.
 
Got an appointment with the GP on Tuesday the last drink i have is 8.00pm at the latest so i know it's not that.
 
Eating lots of fruit can be a problem for diabetics - especially tropical fruits (including bananas) and grapes. Berry fruits are preferable for most.

And I can't see that nightly small bar of chocolate helping to be honest, even if you have done that for years.

If you've been taking statins for many years, that may have increased your chances of getting diabetes. It seems to happen more with women than men.
 
Hi i have been on statins for about 10 years not because i have high cholesterol but because there's hear disease in the family although I'm the only one on them. Will mention this to the GP on Tuesday & see what she say's thanks.
