At least we have a lot in common on this site. Twenty years type 1 diabetes which is more about finding your limits with food/drinks and what works best to keep you fit and enjoy life.

Hello David and welcome to the forum. Yes, this is a place where we all understand each others' successes and problems.

Hi David welcome to the forum from me too

Hi David and welcome to the forum, your right about knowing your limits

Hi thanks for the welcome been good to read views ,experiences

I had this for over 20y type 1 been a few ups and downs excuse pun. Work three shift pattern, but to be honest my dad was diabetic and sister so had bit of help when needed but try to live my life as normal as possible with learning to know your meals like little an often works for me.big Sunday dinners is going put sugar up high then insulin like mine works 30/70 ie 30min start to drop levels then over next 7 hours slower effect. You have to know your body everyone different also on thyroid tablets. Bloods we're ok last check at doctors so I just eat anything I like

Shifts are not good for us. I did them for 38 years.

My advice is eat normal and change portions sizes so 18units will cover that meal and not worrying if hypo later or high sugars high over long periods will cause damage over the years blood vessels in eyes etc never going to be perfect in life but it does not have to be handicap
