I'm Helen. I'm from Ipswich in the UK. Actually very near to the football team which got promoted a few weeks ago.
I was diagnosed with type 2 about 3 months ago. I have found this very isolating as people don't understand how serious this can be. And I've actually been told it's a condition made up by doctors.
I'm 46 years old and I am a assistant in a busy primary school. I don't watch TV or films but read a lot.
I love being outside in nature.
I just want to have people in my life who I can talk to and understand

Many of us felt like you when we were first diagnosed, yes it can be serious but it’s also very manageable once you get your head around it and start to learn what you can eat. Have a good read around the forums & don’t be afraid to ask any questions. There’s some links in my signature that you may find helpful

I’m also a type 2 on insulin. I was diagnosed at 50 although I didn’t go on insulin until two years ago (I’m 64 now).

the walking and exercise will help
what was your Hba1c ?

We don't have TV or watch films either.

T2 is serious in that we have to respect it, but it's perfectly manageable once we have the right support and information. Lots of info on here to help you feel more in charge. Knowledge is power! Ask anything you want - no question is irrelevant or stupid. We will help. We've all been where you are now.

Hi. I was so shocked when I was diagnosed that I never asked. I had a blood test 3 week ago and it was 12.7%.0if I'm honest I don't understand what that means

Are you in the UK? Do you have the NHS app with access to your GP records? everything should be on there, and if you need help interpreting there are some very knowledgeable people here

Yeah in the UK. Haven't got the app but I think it's something I will need to get
