I was amazed after reading how carbs affected others BG I checked the hidden sugar content of everyday carbs.
As in sugar cubes 1 cube = 3g
Small brown roll = 6
Medium baked potato = 16
3 tablespoons cooked rice = 10
200mm orange juice = 7
Can coca cola = 12 (less than a baked potato)
Lucozade = 22
Fruit jelly = 31
Tube fruit pastels = 14
So a baked potato with lunch and a brown roll followed by jelly (without the ice cream) 85g of sugar wow!!!!
Thankfully it doesn't affect me too much cutting down on potatoes, limiting myself three slices home made brown bread toast a day. The rest I don't eat anyway. Ordered myself a new BG meter that takes cheaper strips! And going to test myself more often. ;-)

Down from 7.9 to 6.0. Last few self tests I did last week 5.5 morning fast. and same after dinner. Definitely going to check more just for the feel good factor.
