High BG advice please

So late last night my BG started rising rapidly for no reason. Did several correction boluses and was still going into double figures quickly. Set was on second day and had been sore so put in new set. New set felt fine and slowly brought BG down to normal levels. I had to set my alarm to wake up every hour or so to check and I noticed they rose again but of course I wasn't sure exactly when old set had stopped working.

This morning I got up early and BG started shooting up again. I normally wake with BG of 4-5 and hold steady but woke with 6.4 and rose to 10 very fast. I did correction bolus and put on temp basal. We had a vet appointment so had to go but kept checking BG. Dropped to 8 but very slowly. New set feels fine and not sore.

Two hours later and with masses of insulin my BG is now down to 6.7 but something isn't right. I have just changed my reservoir, tubing and new vial of insulin as want to rule that out. I am needing a LOT of insulin - bolus and basal +150% but it's not doing much. I have a mild cold but nothing else.

What should I do next please? Not been in this situation except when set fails new one has always worked and all sorted.

Just keep plugging away, I'm having the same problem due to a med that GP gave me to treat a stomach ulcer. It's not the sets or insulin it's just your body reacting to a cold/virus. Reading the forums high numbers seem to be catching as plenty of people have the same problem at the moment.

Thank you @CarbsRok - as you know I get anxious so wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and not panicking!

I have kept the temp basal on at +150% and wondered if you thought this was about right please?

You will know if the basal is correct by your blood sugar results.

I would say it is probably your cold which is causing it @MushyPeaBrain

I woke up to a lovely 19.0 this morning which rose very quickly to 21.0, but I think it is down to what I ate last night combined with a slight cold.

I think this high bg must be catching as I too have needed to do a high tbr to get levels down and ramped up corrections which I gave uding pen as wasnt sure if the set was ok. Turned out that the cannula was slightly bent but even inserting a fresh set, bg still going very high so tbr again and some basal rate changes.

This fresh batch of inset 2s......the springs are not locking correctly so will need to complain and get replacements. Good job Ive got some Inset 30s

@iHs i noticed that on the insets. They are very hard to pull back and some then don't fire. Think I will give animas a call and complain tomorrow too.
