High blood sugar levels in the morning

The advice i can offer is limited because i'm a T1 so treatment for T2 diabetes is different, but i can throw a few ideas your way for you to consider.
When we get up in the morning our BG rises (our body is releasing sugar to wake us up) so are you taking your test before or after you are up and about? If it's after then you could try testing soon after you wake to see if there's a difference.
If you are testing straight away, have you washed your hands? Sounds stupid i know but if you are sweating at night you could get salts and sugars from this on your fingertips.
The thing that strikes me most in your question is that you say the sweating could be due to menopause. I wonder if it may be your menopause that's interfering with your levels..? It might be worth checking it out with your GP.
Lastly, us T1s, if we want to get to the bottom of a morning high, do a test at 3am and then on waking to see if the level has increased or decreased. This indicates which insulin we take is at fault. Though you have T2, it may be interesting to see what happens with you to give your doc an idea on what's going on overnight. It might help with adjusting your meds. That's if you can face thesleep interruption!!
