high blood sugar reading

Hi, I have only just joined this forum. My blood sugar reading is 14.5 mmol/l and i have type 2 diabetes. I have just started a course of Cefuroxime antibiotic and deltacortril steroids and wondered if anyone noticed raised readings when on these type of medications. Thanks in advance.

Have only just started the meds and am on six 5mg steroids for a week then reducing for a week.
I was not sure if the high reading was harmful. Thank you for answering so quickly.
 
It would be better if they were lower, but I'm not sure what you can do as a diet controlled T2 except maybe reduce your carb intake for the duration
 
I was on a similar dose of steroids about 5 weeks ago. My blood sugar shot straight up with the first dose, and despite low-carb diet, it wouldn't budge. The reading isn't ideal, but for a couple of weeks, isn't going to be harmful. I guess the way to look at things is that the condition you have been given the steroids for is priority - once that is taken care of and you are off the steroids, then your blood sugar will return to it's normal level.
